Allocation rate

Last updated :

What is Allocation rate?

Allocation rate (planned occupancy) measures the share of a person's capacity already assigned to projects: 100% means all their available time is planned.

Key points

It is a forward-looking indicator computed from the plan. It does not show whether the time is actually spent; for that, look at the utilization rate.

Above 100% you have overallocation. Below roughly 70%, the resource is probably under-used or available for new demand.

Formula

Allocation rate = planned workload ÷ available capacity × 100

Example

15 planned days against 18 available days = 83% allocation.
